Status Updates - Fall
Overview
This has really been a crazy year. In many ways too crazy for me and honestly, it has mostly been not the good kind of crazy. However, there are some things that always help elevate the mood. Fall, as a season is one of those things to me. It might actually be my favorite season, but I’m not ready to make a determination on that yet (I’m a spring baby so competition is tough). A good fall season can help you end the year with a bang so you can enter the next year with a strong start.
So it’s an important period of time that allows you to give yourself a chance to lock in to what matters (this is dependent upon the person). For me, this season has had a fairly strong start. In fact, as a contrast to the first half of the year, the past few weeks of the fall have been like night and day. Here’s some of the highlights, in no particular order:
Getting back to work: My current job breaks for a portion of the summer, and I’ve recently started back up. It’s been a bit chaotic, but I’m happy to be making some money again (the short films are not at all profitable…yet).
Went on a hike with some family and it was really fun. I have not been to the outdoors in a long time and it was a much needed break from the city.
Recently I’ve started drinking Kefir, and my goodness has this stuff really elevated my life. I can’t praise this stuff enough. It has been a game changer for my body and digestion.
We had a nice celebration for my dad’s birthday. The food was great, and the vibe was too.
I’ve finished 3 out of 5 of my puppets (and the 4th is about 75% complete). This project is coming to a close soon and I can’t wait.
I’ve finished my second long form short (Mr. Facebook is the tentative title). I’m taking a break from producing long for content until the puppets are done, but boy did this feel amazing.
I recently just purchased a 2025 model Cintiq 16. This is kind of a mixed one, and I might write a dedicated blog on it at a later time.
Outro
In a year that’s been as hectic and as chaotic as this one has been, it’s nice to have things slow down and be positive for a change. I would say it’s been a good start to the fall for me and I’m building up good momentum. I’m a bit more optimistic about the latter half of this year and I’m doing my best to stick the landing.
Just because things are tough, it doesn’t meant mean you give up. The struggles in life are important because they force you to push through and grow. If things were always good, the ‘good’ is devalued and you lose sight of things. The journey makes you more appreciative of when the good times come.
-Until next time-
