More Life - February 2026 Update

Intro

February is always a strange month. It comes and goes before you know it. This year the world became a bit more crazy, but for me, things were fairly normal. Here’s what’s been happening.

Work stuff

February saw the completion of the freelance project titled ‘Self Direction’, that I mentioned back in January. It was a project commissioned by a family friend. It was a fun project and I think it came out well. Production was shorter than expected, but that’s good because it was based off of my current short style (I should give it a name for clarity). In a sense this project was also a pilot for longer videos and I think it showed that I could do longer formats in a reasonable time frame. I’m thinking about if I want to make it public or not. Tonally, it doesn’t fit in with my content, and is more in the line of an advertisement. Overall, I’m happy I took the project on, but I’m glad it’s over.

Short stuff

I’ve recently written a blog about the lineup of shorts I have for the first half (H1) of this year. Production on all of the H1 shorts are almost done, and I’ve enjoyed working on this year’s shorts a lot more than in previous years. There’s about 2 shorts left to produce for H1, and then I can begin working on H2 production. Incidentally, I more or less have the shorts that I want to produce for H2 already lined up, but I’m not fully committed to them yet. Before things get set it stone, I want to do some more research and wait on performance metrics for some more of the H1 shorts. That said, there’s going to be some fun stuff later this year that I’ve been wanting to make for a long time and it’s exciting to finally get to those ideas.

Next down the line is Moho. It went on sale in February as a play to the announcement that adobe was going to kill their animation program ‘Animate’. (They later walked it back). I’ll be spending the next few weeks to learn the program and eventually, will begin to incorporate it into my pipeline. It has a ton of potential and I think it’s possible it’ll facilitate the creation of longer shorts.

Life stuff

Life has been pretty uneventful, which is a good thing at my age. NYC was hit with a blizzard, and it sucked to shovel all of that snow. It was so much snow, my shove broke. So far this year, my health has been pretty good. Much better than it was at this same point last year. One of the reasons why I feel better is that I reeled back my level of activity and have been more mindful of limitations.

Outro

Overall February was a bit more chill than I expected. I imagine things will pick up a lot more once spring comes around

-Until next time-
