I Made 100+ Shorts!
Intro
Back in October 2025 I hit a milestone and crossed over the 100 shorts mark. For all intents and purposes 100th short released was either ‘Haunted Hands’ or ‘Freaknana’. The reason why I’m not 100% sure is because of my previously convoluted naming system, along with a few shorts being unreleased. Regardless, this is a pretty big milestone for me considering that I didn’t think I would last longer than a year or two when I started.
I tried making content many times throughout the life of my animation career. The first attempt was with some friends under our business called ’Stellar Animation’. We made a few shorts and pitch books, but eventually dissolved the company. I produced a few short films and my ‘How To Be Successful’ series after the business dissolved. That didn’t stick for too long either, and then I moved on to doing my ‘ A Touch Of Death’ and ‘Frame of Mind’ series, which was the precursor to my storytime shorts. The ‘Frame Of Mind’ shorts were fun to make but took too long to produce and eventually I cancelled that series as well. After all of that I took a break for about a year or two to get my head together and to answer a very important question about my future.
“What can I make, that I would enjoy making for the rest of my life”?
I decided to make my own life stories because they were fun to talk about and people liked hearing about them. I’ve been told that my life was like a tv show so how could I miss the opportunity to produce it? I settled on the storytime format after doing some research on what styles of animation were popular on Youtube at the time. There were other considerations i needed to make before deciding such as: upload frequency, length, and audience. These factors were important as for production sustainability. If the effort was too high, like the ‘Frame Of Mind’ shorts, and payoff too low (audience growth) then it would be pointless to spend time making those types of projects.
Once I decided that this was my path, I went forward to make the first story time short, which was about the relationship I had with my cat “ Madonna”. Over time things took a turn and the content evolved. The storytime content continued to develop and new content was created. The ‘Giggle Gang’, which premiered as cartoons animating audio from popular memes, and eventually developing into its own original format. Following that was ‘Moment of my time’, which was a skit-based format and more. Realizing that my post-storytime content had erratic performance, I went on to develop a better short format called ‘Short Shorts’. ‘Short Shorts’ encompass these previous formats: ‘Giggle Gang’, and ‘Character Moments’ (short form adaption ‘Moment Of My Time’). They also include new formats such as ‘ Post Processing’ and ‘Life Scripts’ along with any and all future short-form, vertical video series. Larger ‘Storytime’ and ‘Moment Of My Time’ shorts will be produced as traditional short films were previously. I’ve currently produced 2 of these longer format shorts already, but they have not premiered yet (hopefully later this year but who knows).
Eventually I found myself looking back at everything I’ve made over the course of 4.5-5ish years. There were many times where I almost walked away, but I’m glad I managed to stay in the game. I figured the hardest part would be making the shorts for at least 5 years. After that, I think I would figure out if this is something that I wanted to truly spend the rest of my life working on.
Turns out it is.
It’s been a journey so far and it feels like the first 5 years was the tutorial level. I held back a lot of the crazier stories and ideas but I think the next 100 shorts are going to be way better and I can’t wait to make them. I would like to thank everyone who has watched the shorts, and those who have given me words of encouragement. I don’t know if I could have lasted this long without that support. Onwards to the next chapter!
-Until next time-
