Recommendation - Laird Superfood With Lion’s Mane And Reishi

Intro

Back in June, I went food shopping at Whole Foods and came across a supplement I had never seen before called “Laird Superfood”. Usually I avoid supplements, with the exception of protein powder to help with post-workout nutrition. Not out of any particular distaste for them, I just like eating food. I try to eat clean and be mindful of eating a wide variety of things so that I can get all of the necessary nutrients.

Anyway, when I saw the brand I was intrigued. I found it appealing that the supplement listed a mushroom extract that I’ve been curious about trying called “Lion’s Mane”. For years I’ve heard how good it was for your brain, and resolved to try it one day, however it’s difficult to come by where I shop for food. The other mushroom is “Reishi”, which I might have heard about before, but I certainly didn’t remember it in the moment. I figured since this was in such an accessible format, and was relatively cheap (it cost about $20 the first time), I went for it.

The pitch of the product is that it will increase your focus. To be honest, I wasn’t sold on it at all. I’m not exactly sure why either, but it seemed like the benefits were be overblown. I checked some reviews and surprisingly it was rated very highly, a good first sign. The following day I tried it for the first time, and not only was my skepticism wrong, I have to say that this stuff rocks. It is just so good. Let me explain.

The product is pitched as a coffee creamer to put in your daily cup of Joe. I’m basic with my coffee and I don’t really like mixing anything inside of my espresso drinks other than the milk (I use oat milk, I know I know, but it works well with espresso). Since I don’t add it to my coffee, I elect to put it into the protein shake i make post-workouts. It seemed like a good match for it. In case you’re wondering what the protein shake is made up of: some kefir, coconut milk, whey, and now this creamer. Give it a good shake and you’re ready to go. The creamer has a coconut flavor to it that blends well with the rest of the shake, and doesn’t mess with the flavor of it at all.

As I said before, I had been skeptical of how effective it would be, but upon adding it to my diet, the difference is very apparent. My baseline focus is way higher and I’m much more alert throughout the day. I’m able to retain my attention even after the ‘post lunch blues’ timeframe from 1-3. Getting things done is far easier with this new addition.

That’s also without drinking any coffee along with it.

On days where I do drink coffee, I have a separate cappuccino (remember, I’m a simple man), but I’ll take a big swig of my protein shake before I drink my coffee. Let me tell you, this is a dangerous combination. Alone, coffee gives me tremendous energy (on top of my usually high energy levels). So much so, that sometimes it’s too much, and I become a bit scatterbrained. With the addition of the Laird Creamer supplement, it’s as if that energy becomes hyper concentrated. As an illustration, it’s as if you turn on the water from a hose and it starts as a light mist, then gets compressed into a dangerous stream with massive water pressure. That’s what it’s like when you add these two things together. The Laird Creamer is a perfect supplement to your coffee and will maximize the effects of the energy your coffee gives you.

If you have mushroom allergies, this might not be something you are able to consume. The main ingredients in the supplement are the extract of the two mushrooms I listed earlier (lion’s mane and reishi) along with coconut. However, if you don’t suffer those allergies, this might be of huge benefit to you. I will say that if you’re an older person or someone who might lack focus and gets easily side tracked, give this a try. It might just be what you needed to get back into your groove.

Laird Superfood With Lion’s Mane And Reish gets my whole hearted recommendation!
