Status Updates - Summer 2026
Oh summertime, how short but sweet you are.
It’s been a while since I’ve done a status update. To be honest there hasn’t been much to talk about. Still making shorts, still working where I can, but with a summer vibe. This summer has been a bit more peaceful than the previous summers the last few years. It’s a nice change of pace to slow down and enjoy the days, but I digress. This summer I had 2 major goals.
The first was to try out a new method of batch production of my shorts. In an attempt to streamline, homogenize and upgrade my pipeline all at once, I set aside all of June and most of July to try this new method of production out. The short story so far is, that it’s worked, and has put me ahead in production. Currently, I am producing the last 3 shorts of 2026. Along with that, the overall time of production is also down. So much so that recently I was able to produce 2 shorts within the same week, an unprecedented feat for yours truly. This is a good sign for the continuation of my content, because life will surely pick up, and the easier it is to produce these shorts, the easier it is to continue making them. Also, I will say, this batch of shorts so far have been some of my favorite to make in the 5 years that I’ve been doing this. I look forward to showing them to you!
The second goal I had was to be more mindful with my money. There are 2 tough seasons for me each year that I am trying to optimize. Summer and winter. Summer because my day job slows down, and winter because of the holidays and a bunch of overlapping bills. This year, perhaps due to getting older, I’ve realized that I should be more careful with spending in the good seasons. Kind of like how squirrels hide their nuts for the winter, except my nuts are cash. I realized earlier this year, that I did not want to have a bunch of surprise expenses that would eat away at my savings so I came up with a plan. The first half would be to use whatever tax return I got, and dedicate that money to all of the bills I would get in the summer and winter. The second was that, for my birthday, I only asked for money to be put into an entertainment fund. If I wanted to buy a game or something, I would take it from that fund instead of using my own money. So far that plan has worked very well! Money has been hard to come by recently, so managing my finances in this way has been a lot of help, and this is something I’ll continue to evolve over time.
Overall, I’ve been good. I’ve been chipping away at my goals, and building up my self control. It’s not been easy, but it has been worth it. Some people might get disheartened when they go through hard times, but I try to remain optimistic in the face of adversity. What doesn’t kill you only makes you stronger. Learn the lessons you need to, grow, and adapt. Most importantly, take a minute to bask in the warmth of the sun on a cool morning.
