Lil’ Bo tries saving himself and peep, only to suffer from cartoon physics at the wrong time 💥
Inspiration of the short
This short idea came to me in December 2025, around the time when I wanted to think up a new slate of Giggle Gang ideas. I believe it’s still part of the 1st generation of slap stick ideas I had for the characters. With this set of ideas I wanted to explore shorts that could reveal a bit of the character’s personalities and dynamics. The idea of a zombie themed horror short was something that I’ve been wanting to do for a while. I also figured it would be a good time to start developing the character dynamics and rules for the Giggle Gang.
Goal of the short
I mentioned in the last section that this short would be a good time to develop character dynamics. I wanted to take time to develop how Lil’ Bo interacts with the world. Each of the characters have traits and rules governing their interactions. For this short I wanted to focus on Lil’ Bo’s dynamic of “Lil Bo using objects lead to unintended consequences”. Simply put if I were to shoot a gun, like in this short, the bullet will fly away from me. Not with Lil’ Bo. Unfortunately for him, today, bullets find him attractive!
Production intrigue
There were 2 things that I found interesting about the production of this short. The first was all of the stages that the idea went through. I keep a notion of all of my short ideas, and sometimes I iterate on them. For this particular short, I iterated 3 additional times before landing on the final outline for this short. I won’t discuss exactly what the other permutations were, as I might use them for another day, but this is a good example of how ideas can evolve.
The second Interesting thing about this production was the visual design. In short, I had a blast setting this short up and designing the look for it. While the Giggle Gang style is always changing, I do feel I am getting closer to having that “voice” for these shorts. I think this is a step in the right direction. To me, the short feels more like a classic cartoon that you’d watch on an analogue TV, as opposed to something you’d scroll by on your phone. Seeing as how I’m a huge fan of classic cartoons, I count that as a win! There’s still more to explore however, but things are looking good
Final thoughts
Overall I’m about 90% satisfied with how this short came out. I think the biggest errors were timing and pacing toward the end of it (when Peep and Zombie Bo look at each other). I think the timing and speed of the reactions are a bit off from how I envisioned them. Flaws aside I’m happy with the final product and especially the final ‘look’. It feels as if all of the things I’ve learned over the years are finally starting to compound in ways that elevate the quality of my animated shorts.
